New substrate or existing antifouling? Match the preparation route to the coating already on the boat.

LESS FOULING.
MORE FREEDOM.
A different approach to life below the waterline. Discover Hempel’s silicone fouling-release system and the wider range of paints that help keep boats looking their best.

From seasonal maintenance to a complete refit, explore Hempel yacht paints through Marathon Leisure. Find the right finish, build the system and bring the range to your customers.
Find your product rangeHempel Silic One is a biocide-free silicone coating whose ultra-slick surface stops fouling from getting a grip. Less drag means more speed and less fuel burned, so you get more from every trip. Upkeep is easy: rinse, inspect and recharge with Hempel Infinity each season for up to two years of protection without repainting. Antifouling a boat can be a drag, not with Silic One.
Explore Silic One
Silic One uses fouling-release technology rather than relying on biocides in the finish.
The surface makes growth easier to release. Boat speed, frequency of use and local fouling conditions affect cleaning needs.
Choose the appropriate hull system or a Silic One Propeller Kit, with the correct primer and tiecoat for the job.
Preparation, adhesion, protection and maintenance. Find the products for every stage of a Silic One project.
New substrate or existing antifouling? Match the preparation route to the coating already on the boat.
The compatible link between the specified primer and the Silic One finish.
Choose the finish colour and pack size, or explore the propeller kit options.
A water-based recharger for an existing Silic One coating in good condition.
The preparation route depends on the substrate and existing coating. Hempel’s Conversion Primer can be used over suitable antifouling in good condition; bare surfaces require the specified primer system. Confirm product codes and kit contents before ordering and follow Hempel’s current application instructions.
Source Hempel antifouling, yacht paint, varnish and boatcare products through one trade supplier. Choose a job below, then open the product page for available colours, pack sizes and product information.

Compare silicone fouling release, hard thin-film coatings and conventional antifouling. Match the product to the hull, sailing area and maintenance routine.

Build the foundation for a successful coating job. Light Primer offers epoxy priming above and below the waterline; High Protect II supports osmosis protection and treatment.

Refresh topsides with Brilliant Gloss, choose a textured finish for decks, or find coatings for bilges and lockers.

Bring out the character of onboard timber. Classic Varnish is a clear, tung-oil-containing alkyd finish for interior and exterior wood above the waterline.

Complete the order with cleaning, polishing and preparation products. Select thinners and tool cleaners against the exact coating’s current product data sheet.

For larger coating and refit projects, explore Marathon’s professional Hempel listings. Ask your account manager to help confirm the product code, compatible system and pack requirements.
The right Hempel coating depends on more than colour. Hull material, the existing finish, time afloat and operating conditions all influence the choice.
| Product | Coating approach | Consider for | Check before ordering |
|---|---|---|---|
| Silic One | Biocide-free silicone fouling release | Hull and propeller projects seeking a silicone system. | Primer and tiecoat route; boat use and maintenance. |
| Hempaspeed TF | Hard, biocide-free thin-film coating | Suitable GRP, steel and aluminium boats in fresh or salt water. | Compatible preparation; cleaning in high-fouling areas. |
| Tiger Xtra | Conventional erodible antifouling | Seasonal antifouling on compatible hull materials. | Not for aluminium or other light-alloy metals. |
| Mille NCT | Self-polishing antifouling | Projects seeking self-polishing fouling protection. | Exact formulation and colour; aluminium suitability varies by product code. |
| Hard Racing | Hard antifouling | Power boats and regatta yachts. | Exact product variant; standard 7668E is not for aluminium. |
| Brilliant Gloss | High-gloss alkyd topcoat | Interior and exterior finishes above the waterline. | Substrate preparation and compatible undercoat. |
Use antifoulings safely. Always read the label and product information before use. Product variants can have different substrate approvals; check the current UK data sheet for the exact product code.
Record the hull material, area to be coated and whether it sits above or below the waterline.
Identify the old system and assess its condition before selecting primers or a conversion route.
Consider fresh or salt water, fouling pressure, cruising speed, usage and cleaning access.
Confirm preparation products, primer, finish, any curing agent, application tools and the required quantity.

Meet Hempel Infinity. A water-based recharger designed to extend the performance of an existing Silic One system in good condition for another season.
Clean and inspect the hull first. Repair damaged coating and follow Hempel’s recharge instructions for the existing system.

A great finish starts before the first coat. Check surface preparation, compatibility, coating thickness and application conditions against the current Hempel instructions.
For quantities, use the specified spreading rate, number of coats and an allowance for practical application losses. Include primers, curing agents and maintenance products in the same enquiry.
Hempel yacht paint and coating selection, explained.
Marathon’s Hempel range includes Silic One, Infinity, antifouling paints, primers, fillers, topside and deck coatings, varnishes, teak treatments, boatcare and specialist marine coatings. Use the product links above to check the listed pack sizes and colours, then order through your trade account.
Silic One is a biocide-free silicone fouling-release finish. Its silicone and hydrogel surface makes it harder for organisms to attach firmly. Conventional biocidal antifouling works differently. Choose between them using the boat’s substrate, operating pattern and maintenance requirements.
Hempel specifies a conversion route for suitable existing antifouling in good condition, using Conversion Primer and Silic One Tiecoat before the finish. This does not mean Silic One can be applied directly over any old paint. Confirm compatibility, adhesion and preparation against the current Hempel instructions.
Select by the exact product code and the complete coating system. Silic One and Hempaspeed TF have aluminium applications with the specified preparation. Some conventional antifoulings, including Tiger Xtra, are not suitable for aluminium. Different white and coloured variants can also have different approvals.
Brilliant Gloss is a topcoat for interior and exterior use above the waterline. Hempel’s Non-Slip Deck Coating provides a textured deck finish, while Classic, Favourite and Dura varnishes provide wood-finishing options. Check the chosen product’s substrate and application guidance.
